How to play Power Blocks

Power Blocks is a sliding-tile puzzle in the 2048 family: merge equal numbered tiles into their sum and chase the 2048 tile before the board fills. A five-minute brain warm-up that is easy to start and hard to put down.

How to play

Slide all tiles up, down, left or right with arrow keys, swipe or the on-screen pad. When two equal tiles meet, they merge into their double (2+2=4, 4+4=8…). A new tile appears after every slide, so a full 4×4 board with no moves left ends the round. Reach 2048 to complete the main goal.

Tips for high scores

• Keep your highest tile cornered. A "corner chain" (2048 in a corner, 1024 below, 512 beside) minimises the chance of messing it up.
• Slide in one direction. Never slide up-and-down then left-and-right chaotically — pick a pattern and stay near it.
• Never slide away from the corner. Before pressing "up", ask if it damages your biggest tile.
• Merge small tiles first. Clear the clutter low in the board before you touch the big ones.
