⚫⚪ Gomoku — Five in a Row
solo vs AI · 2 players (1 screen)Rules — 30 seconds
Black moves first, then alternate. Get five stones in a row — horizontal, vertical or diagonal. Block your opponent’s fours while building your own threes. In 2-player mode both players tap the same board.
How to play Gomoku
Gomoku (five in a row) is one of the simplest strategy games in the world — two players take turns placing stones on a 15×15 board, and the first to line up five stones horizontally, vertically or diagonally wins.
How to play
Black always moves first. On MiniGamesPark you can play solo vs a three-level AI (Easy, Medium or Hard) or two players pass-and-play on the same screen. Tap or click any intersection to place your stone, then watch for both your own streaks and your opponent’s.
Tips for winning more
- Build two-way threats. A "live three" (three in a row with open ends) forces your opponent to block — while you quietly start another, you win on the second move.
- Block the fours first. An open four wins next move, so it always takes priority over building your own three.
- Use the centre early. Middle intersections give you more directions to win; edges are weaker.
- Don’t chase single lines. Attack two directions at once and the AI (or a friend) can only stop one.
Frequently asked questions
Can I play without creating an account?
Yes — Gomoku is free, needs no sign-up and works in any browser. There is nothing to download.
Is the AI hard to beat?
Hard mode blocks open fours and builds its own threats — good enough to beat casual players. Medium and Easy are more forgiving.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes — the board scales to any screen and supports touch, so two players can share one device.
